Sir Keaton….Dubbed Potty Trained Knight

So, the potty training is going much better, and after thinking about poor little Keaton, I think taking him out places that soon after I had started potty training him was a mistake.  I expected him to be ready when he wasn’t, and then I got upset, because he wasn’t learning in the time I thought it should take him.  So, after getting home from our little trip, I decided to take a step back, and re-think everything, and let him learn on his own time frame, and not get mad.  Someone had told me how they bought a book about potty training your kid in 3 days, and was telling me how to do it, and even gave me a copy of the book, and I read it, and it was actually working the first couple of days, and then I think I got overconfident, and figured Keaton was set.  So, it ended up taking Keaton 6 days, which is pretty dang good if you think about it.  If anyone out there is trying to potty train and is interested in what this book has to say about it, you should let me know, and I can tell you what you do.  But, so far today, he’s only had one accident, and that was when we were at church, which is harder than being at home.  At home he’s been perfect–even with the whole pooping part.  He’s been really good about coming and getting me when he needs to go.  So, I guess I’m trying to “repent” after getting so upset and frustrated.  I just needed to be more patient.  Well, enough of the potty talk.  I’m tired and need to go to bed.

Potty Training Nightmare

This is how I’m feeling today.  I have been trying to potty train Keaton and he was actually doing really well. He had been telling me he needs to go and was going, so I decided to take him out yesterday.  We took him to his doctor’s appointment, and he did good there, too.  He went to the bathroom, but then Scott had to go take pictures for some people that live by Scott’s brother and his family, so he dropped us off at his brother’s house while he went to shoot the photos.  Yeah, it was a disaster.  Keaton peed on their carpet, and pooped his pants.  It’s all I could think about last night.  I wanted to cry, and Robert and Tara, I am soooooooo SORRY!!!!  I’ve invited them to come to our house and pee on our carpet, and poop on it, too.  Thankfully Keaton didn’t get any poop on the floor.  It was just messy to clean up.  But, I was really upset, and it was just really depressing.  I feel really bad.  I would have been frustrated if someone had come to my house and that happened, so once again, I’m really sorry!  Oh—-and Keaton just woke up, and peed in the toilet.  I guess he was just too excited to play with the kids yesterday.  I think he didn’t want to have to stop what he was doing and go to the bathroom!  I love my kids, but I have to say, I hate potty training with a passion.

1st Day of School

Jaxon started school a couple of weeks ago.  They have year round school here.  He was so excited, but I was kind of sad.  I can’t believe he’s five years old already.  It seems like he was just born.  Now that he realizes he has to go everyday, I’m not so sure if he likes it as much anymore.  One day he got out of school and I asked him what he did in school, and he started telling me about how the kids got to color a paper with a letter in the alphabet on it.  I was asking him if he colored one, and he said he didn’t get to color one.  I asked him why, and he told me, “I was just a little bit bad.”  So, apparently he got in trouble for something, but he didn’t act like it bothered him that much.

It has been an adjustment for not only Jaxon, but Parker and Keaton.  The first time Keaton came with me to drop Jaxon off at school, he was really confused.  I took Jaxon into his class, and went back to the van, with no Jaxon of course.  Keaton started crying and yelling, “Don’t leave Jaxon!”  I tried to explain to him that Jaxon had to go to school and we would pick him up later.  Well, he calmed down for the ride home, but when we got home, Keaton started crying again, and saying, “Where’s Jaxon?”  Parker has told me a few times that he misses Jaxon when he’s at school, so we are all still getting used to it.

I never imagined myself being this old and having a kid in school.  I almost wish I could turn back the clock and be the young mother with one little boy.  I remember thinking how perfect he was, and I really thought he was the cutest baby I had ever seen (I know every mom thinks that :0).  I honestly loved those days…just the days before he was old enough to throw tantrums, and I didn’t think there was any baby more perfect than him….Not that I don’t love him any less.  I love his personality.  He’s so athletic, and I love playing soccer and tag with him.  He’s a really good brother to Parker, Keaton, and Berkley.  I’m just a lucky mom to have such cute, fun little boys.

Hot Summer Day

Our air conditioner broke, so the kids wanted to cool off in the sprinklers.  I actually got some pretty good pix.  I was quite proud of myself.  Yeah, eat your heart out Jaxon!  I can take pictures just as good as you can (Scott is always telling me that Jaxon takes better pictures than I do).

Here’s the kids trying to jump over the sprinkler without getting wet.  I was surprised at how high Keaton jumped.  Pretty good for having a lame leg!

Jaxon turned the sprinkler down and was spraying water into his bucket.  Sly little Keaton snuck over to the faucet and kept turning it on high when Parker and Jaxon weren’t looking.  One time Jaxon even had his face right up next to the sprinkler, and Keaton turned it on and sprayed him right in the face.  Unfortunately, I didn’t get that picture, but I did get this one.

This is Jaxon and Parker mixing up their “witches brew.”  They always have to make some sort of mud pie.  This was before they put all the mud and grass in it.  They told me they were making a recipe.

More water fun.

Parker is sword fighting the sprinkler.  Those sprinklers can be dangerous!

Well, like always I have more pix I want to put on here, but my kids are supposed to be going to sleep, and instead they are going crazy.  Surprise, surprise!  Usually they are such little angels, and go to bed right when I put them in their bed.  :)  So….I’ll have to save the other pix for another day.

The world in the eyes of Jaxon and Parker

Jaxon and Parker have gone nuts with the old camera. They love taking pictures. I think most of these pictures were taken by Jaxon, but Parker did take a few of them. I’ve been wanting to put these up on the blog for a long time now, but I kept doing it wrong, so it wouldn’t work, but I finally got it up. I love seeing the world through their eyes. It’s really fun.

These two last pictures are kind of funny. Jaxon saw a dragonfly in our backyard, and he was trying so hard to get a picture of the dragon fly. Of course the dragonfly was too fast, and he just ended up with the pictures of the grass. :)
