Amazing Keaton

Since Keaton turned one, he has been in a program called the early intervention program.  It’s a program geared to help disabled kids.  Well, so when Keaton turns three, he is supposed to start a new portion of the program where he would go to a preschool that works with kids that are disabled.  Before they allow him to do that, they have to do an evaluation to see if he qualifies for the little preschool.  Today was his evaluation, and it went really good—so good, that they said he doesn’t qualify for the preschool.  :)  Even though he has some physical problems, according to the tests they did with him, Keaton is either average or above average in every area except one.  He was a little behind in gross motor skills, but it wasn’t a big enough lag to qualify him for the school.  And the lady even told me he’s doing so good, that legally Keaton wouldn’t even be considered “disabled.”  I was pretty excited.  Even though he has some obvious disadvantages in his life,  I was so excited  that he is doing so well.  I used to wonder why he was born when he was.  I felt overwhelmed trying to do all the exercises with him that the therapists told me I needed to do.  And, whenever I would start working with him, Jaxon and Parker would always interrupt, and want to “play” too.  For a while it frustrated me, and I would sit and think how it would have been better if Keaton would have been born first, because then I would have been able to focus my attention entirely on him, and work with him.  Not long after thinking that, it totally hit me one day that Keaton is doing as well as he is, because of Jaxon and Parker.  Jaxon and Parker will wrestle and rough house with Keaton, and they don’t go easy on him.  It’s because of them that he has strengthened that side of his body.  It’s because Keaton is always trying to keep up with his older brothers and do what they do.  My frustration soon turned into gratitude.  Keaton’s success has had very little to do with me, and everything to do with his rough playing brothers.  Now I’m so glad he was born when he was…..just a little reminder to me that I don’t always know what’s best, but someone much wiser than I am does, and I’m really glad He’s running the show and not me.

Rock Corral Hike

We went to visit my parents and went on a hike.  It was a really fun hike, and the kids really liked sliding down the hills and jumping off of rocks…you know the usual crazy little boy stuff.

Jaxon wanted to try and carry Berkley.  He couldn’t quite pick up the carrier.

Here are 3 very happy little boys.  :)  The hike was cool, but I didn’t get too many pictures of the scenery.  I will have to steal some of the pictures Scott took and put them on here….well, if I remember.  I always say I am going to upload more pictures, and then I never do.  So, at least I got a few of them up.  :)

Tagged!

Well, I was tagged, so I guess I have to share 7 weird and/or random facts about me.  So here goes:

1.  I don’t like rice crispy treats.  I remember how everyone used to talk about how good they were, and my friends and family would get excited if anyone ever made rice crispy treats.  I don’t know what it is about them, but I hate them.  I can’t stand them.

2.  Ever since I can remember I have loved sports, and I would do crazy things like little boys do.  I hated dresses, and dolls.  When I was little I would much rather have played football, then spend time playing dolls.  I would follow my big brother around everywhere, and when his friends came to play, I would play with them.  Since I could play sports really well, they would let me play with them.  One time my brother and his friend decided they needed to take their shirts off….and of course I followed suit. Well, after they teased me, I put my shirt back on and never did that again.

3.  I’ve become the notorious spatula thief.  Whenever Scott is cooking, I always end up taking his spatula, spoon or whatever utensil he is using to cook with and washing it and putting it in the dishwasher before he’s done.  I’m not even sure why this would happen.  There would even be other dirty dishes out, and somehow every time he would start cooking, his cooking utensil would end up in the dishwasher.  Pretty soon he would be looking all over for the utensil and asking me if I knew where it was.  Well, now I have consciously tried to not do this anymore.  I’m getting better.  :)

4.  Scott and I play a “prayer game.”  Every night before we go to bed, we used to always end up arguing over whose turn it was to say the prayer.  So, we came up with this game.  When it’s time for bed, and both of us are in the bedroom, whoever says, “Do you want to pray?” first doesn’t have to say the prayer.  Now it’s gotten to the point that we try to trick each other.  One time Scott started freaking out and saying someone had spilled something on our carpet in our bedroom.  At first I thought he was serious, but the more he talked, the more I could tell he was joking, and I knew what he was doing.  He was trying to lure me into the bedroom so he could yell, “Do you want to pray?”  and I would have to say the prayer.  So, I went along with it.  And, started acting all upset, and then starting making my way to the bedroom.  As soon as I got close to the door,  I ran in as fast as I could and yelled, “Do you want to pray?”  The look on Scott’s face was priceless.  He was shocked, and didn’t even know what to say.  He just sat there for a minute, and then started laughing and punching the bed.  We laughed about that one for a long time.

5.  I have learned not to walk in our bathroom barefoot.  I won’t go into the gruesome details, but with four little boys running around our house, the bathroom has become a really scary place.

6.  I can beat Scott at basketball.  I’ve played one-on-one basketball with Scott a few times, and he plays basketball like he plays soccer.  He fouls a lot!!!  But, I guess they are allowed to be that rough in soccer…but even with all the fouling, I can still beat him.  :)

7.  I love ice cream.  It’s my favorite treat.  I could eat a whole carton of ice cream by myself.  I know it’s disgusting, but it’s true.

So, that’s me.  I guess I am supposed to tag 7 other people, so I will tag Kelli, Robyn, Whitney, Scott, Kevin, Kurt, and Cammie.  Have fun!!

Scott’s Blog

Hey Scott put a few pictures on his blog.  It’s a miracle!

Donut Falls Hike

we took a ton of pictures on this hike.  It was a lot of fun.  It was too steep and dangerous for the kids to hike up to the falls, so Scott and I took turns.  He went first, and then I went.  It was a really cool place.

More Conference Pictures

Well, Scott is a busy guy, so he doesn’t have much time to work on his blog, so I decided to put some more of his conference pictures on here.  I love the pictures he takes.  He has a ton of other ones that I really like, too, but hopefully he will get a minute and be able to put them up on his blog.

Conference Pictures

Scott took a ton of good pictures at conference.  He’s going to post the rest of them on his blog, but it’s going to take a couple of days.  But, once he gets them up, you should check them out.

Keaton Update

So far Keaton’s eyes are doing good.  He still needs his glasses, but at his last appointment, the doctor said it was looking really good.  His eyes still cross a little bit without the glasses, but with his glasses on they are pretty straight, so that’s really good.  He is such a cutey.  We were playing baseball today, and he does really well.  He can be really stubborn, but I think for him that’s a good thing.  He is so determined to do what his brother’s are doing, and he’s not going to let anything stop him.  It’s just fun to watch him.
